Volunteer of Year Honored at Keys History & Discovery Center

Islamorada, FL – The Florida Keys History and Discovery Foundation honored Jean Simmons as Volunteer of the Year during a volunteer appreciation luncheon at the home of Board Member Phyllis Mitchell and husband Bob.

Simmons, who serves as a docent nearly every week, was honored for her dedication to the Keys History & Discovery Center. She was gifted with sterling silver earrings in the shape of a compass rose. She and her husband Forrest have been Tavernier residents since 2008. They moved from New Hampshire at retirement.

The luncheon reception celebrated the time and dedication of the volunteers who serve as docents at Keys History & Discovery Center.

Keys History & Discovery Center’s general admission is $12. Admission for seniors is $10 and children 13-under are free. The Center is in Islamorada, MM 82, located at the Islander Resort.
