Vessel fire in Key Largo  

The Sheriff’s Office responded to a boat fire at a Key Largo marina Monday morning. There were no reported injuries.

A docked boat — approximately 37-feet in length — was reported on fire at approximately 12:40 a.m. at the Manatee Bay Club on Morris Avenue near Mile Marker 112.

There were no reported injuries. The state Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.

Monroe County Fire Rescue, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Miami-Dade Police, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and the U.S. Coast Guard also responded to the incident.


Man on PWC struck by lightning

The Sheriff’s Office and Monroe County Fire Rescue responded to Cow Key Marina on Stock Island at approximately 1 p.m. Sunday after a man on a personal watercraft was reportedly struck by lightning.

Jeremy Greenfield, 38, from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was reportedly in Cow Key Channel on a PWC when the incident occurred. He was then taken to the nearby marina.

Paramedics transported him in stable condition to Lower Keys Medical Center on Stock Island.
