Upper Keys Rotary Clubs Join Forces for Hurricane Dorian Relief
Help Rotarians “stuff the boat” for Hurricane Dorian relief in the Bahama islands. The Upper Keys Rotary Foundation, Key Largo Rotary and Key Largo Sunset Rotary have joined forces to collect supplies and monetary donations for bulk purchases which will be directly ship to the Bahamas.
Working with Rotary District 6990, which includes Monroe, Miami-Dade and Broward counties, as well as the Grand Bahama Islands, the Upper Keys Rotary Foundation, led by Disaster Coordinator Don Horton, and fellow members, have secured a 181-foot vessel to haul supplies to the areas of need in the Bahama. Dockage has been reserved and Rotarians on the islands will assist with distribution efforts.
“Before the storm finished its path of destruction, efforts were underway,” said Horton, a 20-year Rotarian. “We have done hurricane relief efforts following Irma, Florence and Michael. We are familiar with the most-pressing needs and have the connections to ensure donations are fairly distributed.”
Tax-deductible donations can be made at https://keysrotary.club/donate, or mailed to Upper Keys Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 1514, Tavernier, FL 33070, with Hurricane Relief in the memo line. In addition, several drop-off locations are available in the Upper Keys. Check out the Facebook page, Upper Keys Rotary Club, for the most current dates and times.
