United Way of the Florida Keys Receives Largest Financial Gift in History
On April 5th, United Way of the Florida Keys received a $90,100 match donation from Publix Charities, the largest individual financial gift in the local nonprofit’s 36-year history.
Publix Supermarkets runs a robust workplace campaign for UWFK, giving over $120,000 in donations from individual employees throughout the Keys. Publix is the largest workplace campaign for UWFK and has been steadily increasing their contributions to the Keys community for many years.
As part of their generous workplace campaign and match donation, Publix also designates a special fund to UWFK for a “Last Resort” program. These funds provide emergency assistance to community members who are employed and in need of temporary assistance. Applicants must be able to demonstrate that they will be able to maintain stability in their lives after the distribution of emergency funds. The “Last Resort” program is part of UWFK’s mission to help active community members receive safety net services—short term assistance that helps Keys friends and neighbors get back on their feet after financial setbacks.
UWFK is incredibly thankful for Publix’s consistent and generous support. With their help, UWFK has served over 25,000 individuals in the past year and continues to grow their impact by implementing several new direct service programs throughout the Keys. Thank you, Publix!
Donations to support the work of UWFK and our local nonprofit partner agencies are accepted year-round. If you would like to make a donation, you can access our online giving portal by clicking the “Donate” button at http://www.keysunitedway.org. Thank you for helping us become the leader in community caring!
