U.S. Coast Guard helps out at Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm
The Sheriff’s Office would like to commend the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Key West Aids to Navigation Team, led by Chief Jessica Guidroz, for recently lending a hand at the Animal Farm by repainting the grazing yard fence.
“I’d like to give a big shout out to our friends and partners with the U.S. Coast Guard for lending us a hand and completing this beautification project at our Animal Farm,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “Farmer Jeanne does a wonderful job caring for these animals, but it’s also nice to know we have brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community ready and willing to jump in. The fence looks great!”
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm is home to approximately 150 animals. We provide a haven for animals which have been abandoned, abused, confiscated or donated. The farm is open the second and fourth Sundays each month from 1 – 3 pm, and is free of charge to the public. Bring the family and come visit the animals at the farm, including horses, steer, pigs, goats, sheep, bunnies, alligators, tropical birds, kinkajous, Mo the Sloth, Lemurs, Kramer the Emu, Jack the ostrich, tortoises and turtles, snakes and many more. It is free of charge and donations are appreciated. The farm is located just off of College Road, on Stock Island, at the Sheriff’s Office Headquarters complex.
Note: The Animal Farm is temporarily closed to the public due to COVID-19. The Sheriff’s Office will make an announcement when it reopens.
