Two arrested after drugs found

A 19-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were arrested Thursday for multiple drug violations.

Marrac Madchen Weeks and Arnoldo Lazaro Vega, both of Key West, were charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of another person’s ID without their consent.

Deputy Jennifer Hughes responded to an illegal camping call at approximately 12 p.m. on the 5500 block of 2nd Avenue on Stock Island. She arrived to find a Ford F-150 pickup truck parked on the county right-of-way. The truck was turned off and all its windows were covered with cardboard.

Deputy Hughes knocked on the door and found Weeks and Vega inside. Deputy Hughes noted the odor of marijuana emanating from inside the truck. There were numerous assorted electronics and tools inside the truck.

Also inside the truck the following were found:

  • Two purses containing credit cards and IDs belonging to two other females not present.
  • 1.38 grams of cocaine
  • Approximately 20 grams of marijuana
  • Approximately 350 assorted pills with no prescriptions
  • Two scales that field-tested positive for cocaine residue
  • Assorted drug paraphernalia

Both Weeks and Vega were taken to jail.

The truck was towed from the scene.
