Three men cited in separate wildlife violation cases

Two Miami-Dade County men and one from Broward County were given mandatory notice to appear in court citations Saturday in two separate fish cases in the Lower Keys.

Both cases were made by Deputy Brandon Warren who was patrolling bridges Saturday afternoon and early evening.

In the first case: Sebastian Asencio Gonzalez, 45, of Miami, was cited on the south end of the Seven Mile Bridge for possessing four mangrove snappers that had been fileted and cut up for use as bait. All were under the mandatory size limit of 10 inches.

In the second case: Yoennis Cazorla Mendoza, 35, of Hialeah, and Yenier Montano, 38, of Miramar, were both cited at the Boca Chica Bridge for possessing undersized mangrove snapper and yellowtail snapper as well a dead slippery dick wrasse, the last of which are required to be kept alive and also require a marine life endorsement. The longest mangrove snapper was seven inches and the longest yellowtail snapper was eight inches, the latter of which are required to be 12 inches to harvest.

All the fish in both cases were returned to the water.
