Three men arrested in home burglary

Thee Marathon homeless men were arrested Tuesday night after they were caught burglarizing a rental home on Sombrero Beach Road, causing about $900 in damage.

Ramon Elio Diaz, 60, Reinel Garcia Castellanos, 37, and Benigno Cruz Torres, 57, were all charged with burglary and grand theft.

The property manager called 911 shortly after 8 p.m. after arriving to the residence on the 500 block of Sombrero Beach Road to find the lights already on. The property manager saw three males fleeing via the backyard. All three men fled on bicycles as the property manager was on the phone with 911 operators. The property manager was able to give the Sheriff’s Office very good descriptions of the suspects and their bicycles. She remained on the phone and found a shower on the third floor had been used. The suspects broke a sliding glass door on the third floor to gain entry.

All three men were found and arrested shortly thereafter.

The property manager stated the damage to the door, the loss of rental and clean up would cost about $900.

All three were taken to jail.
