Three Charged with Murder

Three men have been arrested in the June 20th shooting death of 19-year old Jossue Emmanuel Gomez.

Daino Lamont Gaines, 18, and Cortez Rees Leatherwood, 20, are facing charges for first degree murder and robbery. The third suspect in the homicide is Angel John Font, 21, who was arrested in June, has also been charged with first degree murder and robbery. All three subjects are being held with no bond allowed.

With the assistance of the U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security Investigations, Miami Gardens Police Department and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, all three subjects were arrested without incident.

Font was located in Merritt Island, Gaines was located and arrested in Miami, and Leatherwood was located in Key West.

The Key West Police Department Criminal Investigations Division is continuing the investigation.

Gomez was found shot and bleeding at the intersection of Amelia and Howe streets just before 3 a.m. on June 20th. He was airlifted to Jackson Memorial where he was later pronounced dead.
