Thomas Mann Workshop, Found Object Sandwich
Registration is open for the Thomas Mann Found Object Sandwich Workshop hosted by the Key West Art Center. This renowned jewelry artist will teach a two-day course on Personal Pin Making – The Photo Assemblage Brooch. Students are encouraged to bring photographs (old or new) and found objects such as buttons, heirloom jewelry or materials they find on the streets or in nature, and industrial materials (chain, electronic parts, etc.). These pieces will be incorporated in the design and fabrication of a personal wearable expression using an unusual cold connection system from which students can extrapolate other jewelry engineering.
The class fee is $325 ($300 for Art Center Members) with all tools provided; a materials kit must be purchased from the instructor ($40 or $80 for advanced with book and tool.) Contact the Art Center to register for the workshop.
