The Lifeline: Honoring Key West’s Telecommunicator of the Year
Key West Police Chief Sean Brandenburg has named Telecommunicator Nicholas Smith as Civilian Employee of the First Half for 2024.
Smith has been with the Key West Police Department since 2009.
“His ability to remain calm under pressure while expertly managing multiple calls and coordinating with officers in the field is truly admirable,” said Chief Brandenburg. “Each day, he is a lifeline between the community and law enforcement. His keen attention to detail and quick thinking not only enhances the safety of our officers but also provides reassurance to those in distress. It takes a unique blend of skill, empathy, and resilience to perform this role, and Smith exemplifies all of these qualities with grace.
He consistently goes above and beyond to support his colleagues and maintain open lines of communication.”
He was also honored for his dedicated 15 years of service to the Department.
