The Key West Botanical Garden receives Rare Cuban Palms
KEY WEST, Florida Keys – As part of the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden’s Tribute Tree Program, Executive Director Misha McRAE has presented Garden member, Vincent Zito, a plaque for Vincent’s donation of two rare ‘Lollipop Palms’ Hemithrinax ekmaniana. Dedicated as a tribute to the lives of Paul and Rose Zito, these palms, native to Cuba, were planted one year ago and are listed as threatened and endangered in the wild.
The palms complement the Garden’s existing Cuban Palm and Chug Exhibit. As a Living Museum, the Cuban Palm and Chug Exhibit showcases eight species of Cuban palms and 9 Cuban Chugs. To learn more about the Tribute Tree Program, contact Misha McRAE at 305-296-1504 or visit www.keywest.garden.
