The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority Promotes Drinking Water Week – “Your Water – To Know It Is To Love It”

Florida Keys – April 27, 2017 – The Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA), the American Water Works Association and water professionals across North America are kicking off Drinking Water Week on May 7th with the theme “Your Water – To Know It Is To Love It”.

The FKAA celebrates Drinking Water Week by recognizing the vital role water plays in our daily lives.

Water is essential for everything we do in life. We need water to make a cup of coffee, fight fires, build bridges, and swim on a summer day. From tourism to commercial fishing, most sectors of our economy rely on water. While nature provides water, it takes pipes, pumps, equipment, and people working 24/7 to deliver clean water to homes and businesses, and then remove and treat wastewater so it can safely be reused or returned to the environment. The infrastructure is largely invisible. Because it’s out of sight, it’s out of mind for most people.

“Water infrastructure is crucial to our daily lives and to sustain our future generations,” said FKAA Executive Director, Kirk Zuelch. “By working together and investing in our water infrastructure at home and in the community we can ensure the preservation of this vital resource.”

Please join the FKAA May 8th through May 12th at any of our three customer service offices to enjoy some refreshing tap water and snacks and to learn more about your tap water.

For more information about your drinking water anytime go to www.fkaa.com or call Julie Cheon, FKAA Public Information Manager, at (305) 295-2150.
