The “End Violence Against Women” March set for January 19, 2019

For the two year anniversary of the Women’s March, the official Women’s March Florida Keys is sending a bus full of activists to Orlando for the “Truth to Power” March on January 19, 2019.

The theme for the second-Women’s March anniversary event is “End Violence Against Women” because it is imperative to expose the magnitude of sexual harassment and other forms of violence that women suffer everywhere, every day worldwide. The “End Violence Against Women” March in Key West is welcome to all who would like to stand against violence and will be held January 19, 2019 at 1 p.m. Speakers including County Commissioner Heather Carruthers, who in 2017 told the crowd “Don’t let anyone tell you protesting is pointless” and encouraged more women to run for public office are on the agenda.

The “End Violence Against Women” March is sympathetic to the people who are unable to attend the “Truth to Power” March in Orlando and will be gathering in Key West on Duval Street near the Southernmost Beach Cafe between 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m on January 19, 2019.  At 1:00 p.m. they will begin marching down Duval Street to Mallory Square south plaza for an activist rally and appreciation party from 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Organizers would like to express their extreme gratitude to the City of Key West, the Board at Mallory Square, and the Key West Police Department for their assistance.

On Jan. 19, 2019 please join them in solidarity with the #WomensWave and speak out for the rights, freedom, and justice for women and allies everywhere. There will be a trolley available for those who can not walk the distance.
