Surf’s up at Fort East Martello: Donavon Frankenreiter concert will be a wave the whole family can drop in on

On Saturday, July 27, pro surfer-turned musician Donavon Frankenreiter will be back to send out his breezy, laid-back vibes and upbeat lyrics in a 7:00pm – 9:00pm performance at historic Fort East Martello, 3501 S. Roosevelt Blvd.  The show is part of Key WestArt & Historical Society’s “Music at Martello Series,” a program established to promote the arts and foster the Fort as a community venue.

Frankenreiter first rocked his chops to the roar of the waves while still a boy living in Southern California and Hawaii, sponsored by the surfing lifestyle brand Billabong. Since then, he’s toured with the likes of Jack Johnson, launched a solo singer-songwriter performance career with 11 albums under his surf trunks and is raising a family both on and off the road, typically in locales synonymous with the sea and surfing. His concerts are known for his intimate, “feel-good” music and relaxed atmosphere that at times ramps up for upbeat dancing in front of the stage.  The famed musician with a legendary moustache will perform from nearly ten years of solo hit recordings including his most recent release “The Heart.”

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for the “backyard casual” setup that will include food vendors and cash bar. Discounted tickets can be purchased in advance for $25 at Kwahs.org/events or $30 at the 6:00pm door opening.  Limited special VIP tickets with cash bar and seating available for $50.  Children under 12 are free. Limited parking is available, bicycling is encouraged.
