Story of the Week
Hope you did well during the storm!
Found on the streets of Stock Island, Cher, a gorgeous brindle mutt was wandering through the streets happily bounding along with another dog. Strange as it was for a puppy to be on the lamb, what was stranger was that nobody came to claim such a sweet and beautiful young dog!
Cher was put up for adoption at our Marathon Campus, and quickly made herself right at home. She adored the staff and volunteers, who in return doted on her daily. Like any young dog, she was full of a playful, sweet energy. She was engaging in all of her new life experiences such as learning how to sit, meeting other dogs, walking on a leash, and getting a bath.
The weeks rolled on, and much to our surprise, Cher had yet to catch the attention of an adopter. So when the time came to attend a local fundraiser for our Campus, we took the opportunity to not only give her a day out of the shelter, but let her strut her stuff in her adopt me gear in hopes someone would notice her.
Lauren was bartending the event, and couldn’t keep her eyes off Cher. Cher was showing off, putting on the charm for the crowd. With her bright red “Adopt Me” bandana against her gorgeous tiger stripes, a huge smile on her face, and on her best behavior, it was impossible not to be enamored by her. The following day Lauren was at the shelter to formally meet and greet her new pup. After some playtime, a huge hug and a signature on the adoption contract, Lauren was thrilled to bring her new puppy home, furrever.
Thanks!
