Stormdrain Stenciling Volunteer Opportunity
Reef Relief is looking to get back out into the community by beginning to hold volunteer events again. We will be starting off with a stormdrain stenciling event. During these events, we will be heading out into the city to stencil “No dumping, drains to ocean” on the storm drains. This serves to inform the public that storm drains lead directly to the ocean, and to encourage the responsible disposal of waste products.
Our first stenciling event of 2021 will take place on Friday, February 26th from
10:00AM-12:00PM, and we will be stenciling along Duval Street. A nearby meeting spot will be chosen closer to the date of the event. Please wear shoes that you feel comfortable walking around in, and wouldn’t mind getting dirty. Please also bring water and sunscreen, as we will be outside the entire time. We will provide all other necessary materials.
In order to comply with COVID-19 protocols, and to create a safe environment for everyone, we ask that you please wear a mask and practice social distancing while you are arriving and gathering your materials. We also ask that you plan to arrive with a group of 3-4 people, preferably from one household in order to mitigate risk of exposure.
If you are interested in joining us, please have your group RSVP by Tuesday, February 23rd to [email protected]. We will be accepting the first 4-5 groups that sign up.
Reef Relief is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to improving and protecting our coral reef ecosystem.
