Stock Island Artists Open Studios for Popular Annual Tour March 25

2017 Tours Allow the Public to Glimpse into Fascinating Workspaces in “the Brooklyn of Key West!”

Gather your friends and climb aboard the Old Town Trolley for the Stock Island Artist Studio Tour, Saturday, March 25, 11-3 pm. This annual event invites you into the eclectic workspaces of over two dozen local artists working in a wide gamut of mediums—from painting and woodworking to welding, jewelry, and pottery. Tickets are $20 and are on sale online at tskw.org or by phone at 305-296-0458. Trolley transportation is included in the ticket price.

This one-of-a-kind event allows visitors to walk into the center of the lives of working artists. You can engage in a face-to-face dialogue with creatives about their process, what Renegade Clay potter Simone Laswell calls “the most fun and rewarding part of making art.”

Whatever your artistic interest, this event is a unique opportunity for you to enjoy an experience our art community in an intimate way, and help support the high quality of art in the Keys. You’ll bump elbows with other art novices and art aficionados, watch studio demonstrations, and perhaps buy something unique for your home right from the source.

The Tour spot lights artists you’ve seen in local art centers, in magazines, and in galleries and art institutions across the United States including Cindy Wynn, Jimmy Wray, Perry Arnold, Derek Arnold, Craig Berube Gray, Steven King, Pamela Kostmayer, Rudi Repenning, A.D. Tinkham, Simone Lasswell and Pam Bluth of Renegade Clay, the craftsmen of Coast Projects, and many others.

Ticket holders can either drive to Stock Island and do a self-guided tour, or can take advantage of trolleys provided by Old Town Trolley. A free trolley will leave The Studios of Key West at 10:45 am (first-come, first-served), and will return to The Studios at 1:30pm. A second trolley will return to The Studios at 3 pm. Trolleys will do loops around the seven Stock Island tour stops from 11am-3pm, and ticket holders can hop on and off the bus as they like.

The Stock Island Studio Tours run from 11-3 pm on Saturday, March 25. Tour tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance at tskw.org or 305-296-0458, or on the day of the tour at The Studios of Key West in Old Town, or at Tour Stop #1, 5700 4th Ave. in Stock Island.
