Sport Lobster Season update:
It has been a busy day; lots of vessel checks and resource violations as our deputies patrol on land and on the water county-wide. I haven’t heard of any major criminal incidents today as of yet, however there were a few medical calls that appear to be related to the Sport season.
Statistics on the two day season will most likely be available either later this week or early next week.
Here is some information about the medical calls. No further information about them is available at this time.
- At 8:50 a.m. deputies and fire rescue responded to Veteran’s Park, Oceanside at the 40 mile marker to reports of an adult male diver being brought to the boat ramp with difficulty breathing. He was turned over to medical units. Unknown if he was transported to a hospital or not. Most likely he was transported to Fishermen’s Hospital in Marathon.
- At 1:20 p.m. Sheriff’s dispatchers received a call of a 16 year old female who was climbing off of a boat and one of her fingers was severed. The call came from Port Antigua on Lower Matecumbe at the 74 mile marker. Deputies and rescue units responded and she was transported to Mariner’s hospital.
- An adult male was towed in to Bahia Honda State Park by a jetskier at 3 p.m. He had been located in the water and was unconscious and not breathing. CPR is being performed and rescue units have arrived on the scene. Fish and Wildlife Officers are arrival at the scene as well. This is still an active call.
