Speeding motorist arrested

A 26-year-old Greensboro, North Carolina motorist was arrested Wednesday for fleeing from the Sheriff’s Office on U.S. 1.

Venkata Sushanth Kumar Maganti was charged with fleeing and eluding.

The Sheriff’s Office observed a Chevrolet traveling 78 mph in a 35 mph zone near Mile Marker 29.5 at approximately 8:25 p.m.

The suspect, later identified Maganti, did not stop for a Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle that had its lights and siren activated. Maganti then turned down a side street.

The vehicle was quickly found parked on West Cahill Court on Big Pine Key. Maganti was taken to jail.
