Special Tropic Invitation – January 17, 2024
There is an exciting special benefit performance for the Tropic Cinema, a generous gift from Emmy-winning composer John Gottsch and the talented team behind Ocklawaha: Tales My Father Told.
This unique symphony/ film/ story features John Gottsch’s symphonic poem, beautifully performed by the South Florida Symphony Orchestra, and it is based on John’s childhood memories with his Dad along the Ocklawaha River In Northern Florida.
The film is narrated by the legendary Peter Coyote, and the film was shot by Emmy winner Mark Emery and produced by Steve Robitaille. It premiered on PBS WUFT this March and is now available for an exclusive screening at our Tropic.
Event Details:
- 6:30 PM – Members reception (drinks and hors d’oeuvres)
- 7:00 PM – Film Screening (approximately 30 minutes)
- After the Film – Q&A with John Gottsch and his creative team
This is an opportunity to both enjoy an incredible film, and support our non-profit Tropic Cinema jewel while engaging with talented filmmakers, neighbors and artists.
On Friday January 17, I think you will hear it, see it, feel it and enjoy it.
