Soccer Events and Ribbon Cutting at the Truman Waterfront Park
The City of Key West is proud to celebrate the completion of what has been called Phase 1b of the Truman Waterfront park with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The community is invited to come celebrate on Saturday, November 20th at 10 a.m.
There will be an official ribbon cutting at 10 a.m., followed by AYSO games and an awards ceremony.
Organizers have planned a great lunch party at noon with free food and drinks for the kids. After lunch, there will be the Key West Soccer Club Tournament, followed by a match that pits the Key West Adult League against Marathon.

In addition to celebrating the new sports field, the ceremony highlights the other amenities of this last piece of the gem which is the Truman Waterfront Park. Already, the community is enjoying the use of the new dog park featuring a playground/training area with ramps and jumps and tubes. The Kermit “Shine” Building – names for Key West’s own prize fighter and sparring partner of Ernest Hemmingway – features a concession stand, restrooms, and storage for equipment used to maintain the park. In addition, the building sports brand new horse stables for the Key West Police Mounted Unit.
“It’s wonderful to see this project come to fruition,” said City Manager Patti McLaughlin. “The Truman Waterfront Park truly offers something for everyone, from the splash pad to the recreational areas and now the dog park and sports field.”
