Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit takes top award

Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay joined the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Enforcement Unit on Friday in Orlando, Florida where they were awarded first place in their category as part of the Florida Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Challenge.

The Sheriff’s Office took the top award in their category — those Florida law enforcement agencies throughout the state with 201 to 400 officers — as did the Key West Police Department in their category.

The Sheriff’s Office was ranked against the other agencies regarding traffic safety-related statistics/enforcement over the last year.

“I am proud of the Traffic Enforcement Unit for all their hard work in keeping this community safe,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “They are very deserving of this award.”
