Sheriff’s Office lending Islamorada Mayor Mike Forster a hand to feed those in need
Monroe County Sheriff Rick Ramsay and Sheriff’s Office staff will be helping Village of Islamorada Mayor Mike Forster, also the owner of Mangrove Mike’s restaurant in Islamorada, provide meals to Lower Keys residents in need Tuesday on Stock Island.
Forster, and his friends with his non-profit www.mangrovemikesendeavors.com, have been traveling up and down the Florida Keys since the COVID-19 outbreak to provide hot meals to all.
Free hot meals will be served from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at Robbie’s Marina, 7281 Shrimp Road, Stock Island.
This is primarily a drive-thru event, but walk-ups will be served as well. Please have your mouth and nose covered with a mask or buff for your safety and those around you! And if you do walk-up, please observe the 6-foot distancing rule.
“I am more than happy and proud to support these efforts, particularly those by our community leaders who have been going the extra mile, like Mayor Forster,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “Mayor Forster and his crew have been so busy taking time out of their own lives and schedules to provide this service. I was honored to help them alongside Key West Police Chief Sean Brandenburg just a few weeks ago in Key West for a similar event. I talk about community partnerships all the time and this is the sort of neighborly help that sets this community above and beyond so many others.”
