Sheriff’s Office events cancelled due to CONVID-19

Sheriff Rick Ramsay and Sheriff’s Office community partners took proactive public safety preventative measures and announced the cancellation of several popular Sheriff’s Office events Monday due to the CONVID-19 virus.

These decisions were made with national and local public health expert advice taken into account:

  • TheKids’ Bridge Fishing Tournament at the Old Wooden Bridge(between Big Pine Key and No Name Key spanning Bogie Channel) that had been scheduled for March 29 has been cancelled. This event is co-sponsored by the Big Pine and Lower Keys Rotary Club.
  • The2020 Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympicsscheduled for April 3 has been cancelled. This was a joint decision made by Sheriff Rick Ramsay and Key West Police Chief Sean Brandenburg. The sale of the $20 shirts will go on as we still need to raise money for our athletes. T-shirts can be bought by calling our Cudjoe Key Substation at 305-745-3184.
  • TheMonroe County Sheriff’s Office Animal Farm, 5501 College Road, Stock Island, is closed until further notice. This closure includes the Easter on the Farm event scheduled for April 12 as well as the normal March 22 open house.
  • The upcomingMonroe County Sheriff’s Office Citizens Police Academyscheduled to begin the week of April 21 has been cancelled.
