Sheriff’s Office Deputy arrested for battery

Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jesus Abdiel Rojas Burgos, 28, was arrested by the Key West Police Department early Monday for misdemeanor battery following an incident at a Key West bar.

“I take these incidents very seriously, will investigate this matter fully, and take the appropriate action,” said Sheriff Rick Ramsay. “I am committed to keeping this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency — good or bad.”

Burgos was at the Rick’s Bar/Durty Harry’s establishment on Duval Street at approximately 1 a.m. when he touched or grabbed the female victim against her will, according to the Key West Police Department.

Burgos was hired as a law enforcement deputy on April 10, 2023.
