Search warrant turns up 12 pounds of marijuana and $10K in cash

A 54-year-old Key West man was arrested Monday morning after Sheriff’s Office Detective along with Key West Police Officers and other law enforcement partners executed a search warrant at a house that yielded a large amount of marijuana and cash suspected to be from illegal drug sales.

Thomas John Davis of 3 Lopez Lane was charged with two counts of narcotic sales within 1,000 feet of a place of worship, possession of marijuana with intent to sell and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, Special Investigations Unit as well as Road Patrol deputies were joined by members of the Key West Police Department’s Special Operations Unit and agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration took part in the search warrant. The Sheriff’s Office led the search as the case began with that agency. Two people were found inside the residence: Davis was found in one bedroom and another man was in a different bedroom. The other man was not arrested.

Davis told detectives, “Everything in the house is mine.”

The following was found after a search of the bedroom Davis was found in:

  • 11.75 pounds of marijuana that was packaged in multiple vacuum-sealed bags
  • $10,005 in cash

Nothing was illegal was found in the bedroom where the other man was found.

The following was found in the living room:

  • More than two ounces of loose marijuana
  • 25 marijuana vape cartridges
  • Multiple pipes, scales and grinders with marijuana residue on them

The following was found in the refrigerator inside the kitchen:

  • 53 packages of marijuana wax
  • 20 packages of marijuana “shatter,” or concentrate hash oil

Davis was taken to jail.
