Search Warrant Results in Drug Arrests

Two Key West residents were arrested Thursday after the Key West Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit — with the assistance of Homeland Security Investigations and the Drug Enforcement Administration — executed a search warrant at 1210 16th Terrace.

Leroy James Lawson, 28, and Bianca Nicola Digennaro, 45, were taken into custody after detectives discovered a large quantity of drugs in the residence.

Detectives found over three ounces of powder cocaine, 4.9 grams of crack cocaine, 93 Oxycodone pills, 59 Tapentadol tablets, 27 Xanax pills, 8.5 grams of amphetamines, 13 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The approximate total street value of the drugs is over $17,000 dollars. Drug paraphernalia such as a scale and bags were located in the residence indicating the drugs were being packaged for street level narcotics sales.

There were five people on the premises, however only Lawson and Digennaro were arrested on drug charges. The other three subjects were released without charges.

Lawson was charged with trafficking cocaine, trafficking a schedule II controlled substance, possession of amphetamines with intent to distribute, possession of Xanax, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released from prison in July of 2016 after serving over four years for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, sale of cocaine and several other felony charges.

Because of Lawson’s violent history, Key West Police’s Special Response Team provided support in entering the home, using a “flash bang” to distract the occupants as they entered.

Digennaro is charged with possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia
