Scholarships Offered to Teachers & Librarians to Attend 2021 Key West Literary Seminar

Key West, Florida – The Key West Literary Seminar is offering full scholarships to teachers and librarians from around the country to attend this year’s Seminar, “A Seminar Named Desire,” to be held January 7-10, 2021, at the San Carlos Institute in Key West. Scholarship packages include a full waiver of the Seminar registration fee of $675 and financial assistance to offset lodging costs. Scholarship recipients will gain exposure to contemporary authors and texts, expand their professional network of teachers, librarians, and writers, and be inspired to bring new ideas to the institutions and communities they serve. Some of the confirmed speakers for the 2021 Seminar include John Irving (The Cider House Rules and A Prayer for Owen Meany); trailblazing YA novelist and anti-censorship advocate Judy BlumeDani Shapiro, whose recent memoir Inheritance was an instant New York Times bestseller and inspired her hit podcast, Family Secrets; Whiting Award-winning poet and former Guggenheim fellow Jericho Brown; former U.S. Poet Laureate Billy Collins; and Eileen Myles, the Guggenheim-award winning poet and inspiration for the hit Amazon series Transparent.

“We’re looking for a diverse group of individuals who are making positive impacts on readers in their communities,” says Arlo Haskell, Executive Director of the Key West Literary Seminar. “We hope that participation in our literary community will inspire fresh engagement with literature in schools and libraries around the country.”
