SAGE ADVICE
By Fred C. Klein, Esq.
The following is based upon a student interviewing someone he considers “Successful” for a class assignment.
The interview question was “How do you define success?”
I was struck by so many of the following responses which were packed with what I consider valuable, sage, advice:
Each point of your life you think about success in terms of the next objective. Success means achieving this goal, but it is really the process that makes you successful – learning something, carrying out something you want to do (experimenting).
Never do anything you’re not excited about. Work on things you are truly excited about. Life is too short. Prizes/money do not feel as good as being excited/happy about what you’re doing. The rewarding moment is not the recognition, it is being able to do what you want to all the time.
Getting better at things you’re not good at is a major accomplishment in life.
It is very important to stay up-to-date with technology. As tech evolves you can do things you couldn’t do before. Tech from a totally different area can be applied in your field. Talk to people in different fields with specific knowledge that can explain new concepts, cryptocurrency for example.
Being a sponge for knowledge is a good thing which may seem irrelevant at the time, but it is always good to have a bank of information to call upon.
Learn how to write and express yourself.
Feel good when other people you know have success.
Success is not about fame of money. Success comes from inside-your sense of fulfillment!
