Retiring Judge Ruth Becker is Thanked for her Service to Monroe County Citizens
MONROE COUNTY, FL – The Monroe County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed today, Aug. 18, 2021 Judge Ruth Becker Day in Monroe County in honor of her retirement.
Judge Ruth Becker was elected to the Monroe County bench in 1990, making her the first judge to be permanently seated in the Marathon Courthouse and was re-elected without opposition to the Monroe County Bench ever since. She has presided over thousands of cases in the criminal and civil divisions and assisted hundreds of Middle Keys residents battling their addictions as the adult diversion Drug Court Judge. The County named the Marathon Courthouse Chambers after Judge Ruth Becker in 2013 to recognize her service to the Middle Keys.
“We sincerely thank Judge Ruth Becker for her unwavering service over the last thirty years to the citizens of Monroe County,” said Monroe County Mayor Michelle Coldiron. “We wish her the best in her retirement.”
