Sadie leapt out of the open window of a truck and ran straight into oncoming traffic. Sadly, she was instantly struck by one of the vehicles. They never had an opportunity to stop. Immediately after impact she was rushed to Marathon Veterinary Hospital with some of the most severe polytrauma they had ever seen. The team at Marathon Vet worked diligently for hours to stabilize Sadie.
Once stable, Sadie was transferred to Keys Animal ER Clinic for constant monitoring. In this tragic accident, Sadie suffered so much trauma to her small 35 pound body. Her spleen and bladder were ruptured, her neck lacerated, her ribs bruised, her hip out of place and her leg fractured. Things were very touch and go in the beginning, and without the incredible supportive care of the team at Keys Animal ER, Sadie may not have survived the incident.
Sadie was on the long road to recovery. As the weeks passed Sadie continued to defy all odds and grew stronger every day. Her team at Keys Animal ER were devoted to making sure the little Shepherd mix not only survived, but that she was loved as well. Her recovery was nothing short of a miracle. Once Sadie was able to safely leave the hospital, she was fostered by her very own veterinarians Dr. Fayth and Dr. Jason while she continued to heal at their home.
