Repeat Offender Sentenced to Ten Years
The Key West Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit successfully removed an alleged drug dealer from the streets of Key West. On January 29th, Monroe County District Court Judge Mark Jones sentenced Darren Mayfield, 43, to ten years in Florida State Prison, followed by three years’ probation.
Mayfield, who has a long criminal record in Key West, garnered two charges of selling crack cocaine in October of 2016 after he sold the drug during an undercover operation. Mayfield bonded out of the $90,000 bond, and just a few weeks later, sold crack cocaine three more times during undercover operations. He was arrested again in August of 2017.
Mayfield pled no contest to the five sale of cocaine charges and to four counts of the unlawful use of a two-way communications device.
