REBUILD FLORIDA OUTREACH TEAM WILL BE ON BIG PINE KEY MARCH 4-8, DEADLINE TO APPLY IS MARCH 29

BIG PINE KEY, FL – The Rebuild Florida Outreach Team will be at the Big Pine Key Winn-Dixie, 251 Key Deer Blvd, Monday, March 4 through Thursday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Friday, March 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help homeowners register for assistance to rebuild Hurricane Irma damaged homes and answer questions.

Rebuild Florida, a federally funded program implemented by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, moved the previous December deadline to register to March 29, 2019. Monroe County has $50 million earmarked for homeowners to rebuild, repair and elevate their homes due to damage or destruction caused by Hurricane Irma. This funding is a grant, not a loan. As of Feb. 28, 1,116 Monroe County households have registered for Rebuild Florida assistance. Registration takes less than 30 minutes.

According to the Approximate Damage Assessment report, Hurricane Irma destroyed 1,179 homes throughout the Florida Keys, with another 2,977 homes considered to have sustained major damage.

To be eligible for the Rebuild Florida Housing Repair and Replacement Program, homes must have damage from Hurricane Irma. The program is for households in the low- and moderate-income levels. For example, the income limit for a household of four people is $105,840. More Monroe County income ranges can be found at www.monroecounty-fl.gov/rebuildflorida. This program is for homeowners who meet low- and moderate- income levels or for homeowners who rent to people who meet affordable workforce income levels.

Other than meeting with the outreach team, residents can also apply by calling 844-833-1010, visitingwww.RebuildFlorida.gov or going to the Rebuild Florida Center at 2796 Overseas Highway in Marathon.
