Public Meeting on Screwworm Eradicaton Response and Efforts To Save Endangered Key Deer

SUMMERLAND KEY, FL – Monroe County Mayor Pro Tem George Neugent is hosting a second public meeting on Nov. 2 regarding the screwworm infestation in the Lower Keys.

A panel of federal, state and local experts will provide updates about the aggressive eradication response and the efforts to save endangered Key deer. A question and answer period will follow.

Dr. Melburn Stephens with the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service will bring a sterile fly release chamber for demonstration and explanation.
