Polish Priest Takes Care of Ukrainian Refugees – COMING TO KEY WEST
Father Marek Machala, a Roman Catholic priest from Przemysl, Poland will visit Key West from June 7th-11th on a fundraising trip and to accept an award from the American Academy of Disaster Medicine.
A local physician, Bruce Guerdan, who has been assisting Father Machala at the refugee center in Poland, nominated the priest for the Distinguished Service Award from the above organization.
Father Machala has been at the forefront of Ukrainian refugee care in Poland. The city of Przemysl is only a few kilometers from the Ukrainian border. Father Machala and his organization, Pastoral Family Care Foundation (www.pfcf.pf) has been assisting Ukrainian war refugees since the beginning of the Russia/Ukraine conflict.
He will celebrate Mass at St. Mary’s of the Seas and receive the award at the 10:30 Mass on Sunday June 11th.
Father is available to the media and any interested organization to discuss the refuge response in Poland.
