PAULA CARBONELL TRUST DISTRIBUTES $1.24 MILLION TO 4 LOCAL CHARITIES

Key West lost an extraordinary local resident, Paula Jean Carbonell in 2022. While Paula had many passions during her life such as charter fishing, Cuban art and culture, fruit trees including so many various species of mango and more, she especially supported the education of young women and girls in general and in the marine sciences in particular. Because Paula wanted to support young women and their educational pursuits, her trust distributed $1,24 million to  the Southernmost Boys & Girls Club on Monroe County, Samuel’s House, the Monroe County Education Foundation and the Florida Keys Education Foundation, Inc.  Local attorney Sam Kaufman and Paula’s cousin, Kristina A. Urquhart serve as Co-Trustees of the Paula Jean Carbonell Trust.
