Package of suspected narcotics found

The Sheriff’s Office responded to the Chesapeake Beach Resort in Islamorada Thursday afternoon after a package of suspected narcotics was found on the beach.

Deputy Nestor Argote responded at approximately 4 p.m. The general manager turned over a package wrapped in plastic that was approximately 8 inches wide, 8 inches long and 2 inches thick.

Deputy Argote alerted the U.S. Border Patrol who picked up the package. It was not clear what was inside the package.

The Sheriff’s Office had no further involvement.
