Operation Crystal Clear: Key West’s Crackdown on Methamphetamine Distribution

In February of this year, the Key West Police Department Special Investigations Unit began a narcotics investigation into the distribution of crystal methamphetamine within the city dubbed “Crystal Clear.”  Over the past several months, multiple operations have yielded a significant amount of crystal methamphetamine as well as several arrests.

Operation Crystal Clear resulted in the seizure of over 430 grams of crystal methamphetamine, with a total street value of over $32,000. To put this amount into context, 14 grams of methamphetamine is the threshold for trafficking in the State of Florida.

Operation Crystal Clear resulted in the following charges:

Edward John Mahan, 57, charged with multiple counts of the sale of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Robert Allen Moody, 59, charged with multiple counts of sale of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Anthony Blue Fiorini, 28, charged with conspiracy to traffic methamphetamine

Jose Antonio Daniel Columbie, 29, charged with multiple counts of sale of methamphetamine within 1,000 feet of a school, and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

David Maranon Rodriguez, 35, charged with multiple counts of trafficking methamphetamine, sale of methamphetamine, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.

Matthew Steven Bostrom, 34, charged with trafficking methamphetamine, sale of a controlled substance and the unlawful use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony.
