One Arrested in Stabbing Case
On December 21st at approximately 4:20, Key West Police Officer were dispatched to Robert Gabriel Apartments in reference to a stabbing.
Officer located the victim, Tricia Whetstone,19, who was holding her stomach from being stabbed.
Officers discovered the victim had multiple stab wounds to her stomach and shoulder area. Whetstone identified her attacker who had fled from the scene.
Officers were able to locate two 17 year old female juveniles fleeing from the scene.
Discovered in one of the juvenile’s possession when detained was an approximately 3inch fixed blade knife with what appeared to be blood on the blade and handle.
Both juveniles were detained and transported to police station where their parents/guardians were contacted.
Upon arrival of the juveniles’ parents/guardians, interviews were conducted.
Detectives were able to find video of the altercation depicting the physical confrontation and stabbing which indicated the 17 year old juvenile as the aggressor.
After confirming with the State Attorney’s Office with all the information surrounding the circumstances of the case, the 17 year old female juvenile will be charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and possession of cocaine.
The State did confirm they will seek this case be transferred from juvenile court to adult court due to the seriousness of the charges.
In the search incident to the arrest, the 17 year old female was in possession of a baggie with a white powder substance which FTP for cocaine and Fentanyl.
The other 17 year old juvenile was released to her parent/guardian.
The victim was flown out to JAX South Hospital in Miami due to her injuries. Unknown status at this time.
