Oceans Edge Key West Debuts Exciting New Culinary Concept for Yellowfin Bar & Grill
New Executive Chef, Katie Wenmark Introduces Island Meets Asian Fusion Cuisine in refreshed restaurant space
Key West, FL – This week, Oceans Edge Key West Resort& Marina will debut a new culinary concept for its flagship restaurant, Yellowfin Bar & Grill. Under the new culinary direction of Executive Chef, Katie Wenmark, the refreshed, oceanfront restaurant will take diners on a globe-trotting journey that blends island inspired cuisine with an Asian flair. Chef Katie’s menu celebrates flavors and ingredients native to the rich bounty of the Florida Keys while seamlessly blending them with cultural influences, cooking styles and complimentary tastes of the far east. In an effort to support the island’s precious local fishing industry and provide the freshest seafood available, Chef Katie has also implemented a “Dock to Dish” program that will source all fish and shrimp directly from the local fisherman that operate directly out of the resort’s on-site marina on a daily basis. The new Yellowfin concept has been incorporated into all of the resort’s food and beverage offerings, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, poolside bar menus as well as in-room dining. Yellowfin will also continue to offer its sought-after happy hour menu featuring special pricing on starters and beverages every day between 4:30-6:30pm.
As a dining destination within Stock Island, Yellowfin Bar & Grill’s dinner menu will feature an array of starters, soups, salads and fulfilling entrees ranging from fresh caught seafood to flavor-forward meat and vegetarian options. Diners will also have ample opportunity to taste the restaurant’s signature catch, Yellowfin, in a variety of preparations ranging from Sesame Crusted Yellowfin Tuna Nachos (mango salsa, wasabi puree, 15,) to Coriander Crusted (curried lobster broth, wasabi mashed potato and baby bok choy, 29.) To start, standout dishes include Island Ceviche (yellowtail, grapefruit, lime, Thai basil, fresno chili, 14,) Crab Wontons (cream cheese, sweet chili sauce, 13,) and Sticky Chili Glazed Edamame (cracked sea salt, 6) among other shareable offerings. Entrees feature an outstanding selection of creative seafood selections, including a Whole Fried Snapper (red chili glaze, island rice & beans, grilled pineapple, fried plantains, 26,) Blackened Grouper (broccolini, jasmine rice, passionfruit butter sauce, 35,) and a Poke Bowl (ponzu, jalapeno cream, 20.) Island and Asian flavors can also be found in the Guava BBQ Baby Back Ribs (steak fries, daikon radish slaw, 23,) Coconut Curry Chicken (baby arugula salad, spicy peanut sauce, 27) and a hearty Quinoa Bowl (curried sweet potato, sautéed baby spinach, 14.) An interactive and memorable dining element will exist in the form of an “On The Rock” menu option which gives diners the opportunity to cook their meat or fish of choice tableside on a sizzling stone – guaranteeing it is prepared exactly to their liking. This engaging cooking method will be available for Yellowfin Tuna (29,) Key West Pink Shrimp (29,) Grouper (34,) and a 6-Ounce Filet Mignon (35.)
Guests of Yellowfin Bar & Grill will also be treated to a restaurant redesign as the interior has also been refreshed with seating styles and décor that reflect its exciting new culinary concept and stylish yet casual key west vibe. This unique al fresco dining experience can be enjoyed in the open-air, oceanfront dining room as well in the poolside lounge where one can further enjoy the unparalleled picturesque, water views paired with craft cocktails, cuisine and conversation.
