NO THREAT to Marathon High School following social media post  

The Sheriff’s Office was made aware of a troubling social media post at 9:15 a.m. Sunday that contained the letters, “MHS.”

Sheriff’s Office Detectives and School Resource Officers accompanied by the FBI immediately responded and investigated.

The investigation concluded that the social media post was a recirculated/repost of dated writings originating from the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida in 2018 and DOES NOT involve Marathon High School or ANY OTHER MONROE COUNTY SCHOOL.

There is NO KNOWN THREAT to Marathon High School or any other Monroe County School at this time.

The FBI is following up the investigation.
