New Moms and Breastfeeding Support Offered in Upper Keys

The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program is offering breastfeeding support and tips and tricks for moms at the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office conference room in Tavernier on the third Wednesday of every month beginning on February 20, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Tavernier location is at 53 High Point Rd, adjacent to the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County’s Roth building.

The moms group, Mothers in Paradise, allows mothers the opportunity to exchange ideas and get support during pregnancy and the early stages of motherhood.

“This is a terrific opportunity for pregnant moms and moms to meet and share stories,” said Hannah Padgett, registered dietitian with the Monroe County WIC Program. “Mom-to-mom support is important in establishing a good foundation in early child development.”

WIC is a nutrition program for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding or who have recently been pregnant, infants and children under age 5.
