New look for Laurel Avenue with the Addition of a Dumpster
STOCK ISLAND, FL – The end of Laurel Avenue on Stock Island received a facelift with the addition of a Waste Management dumpster to the area. The area is notoriously known as a dumping ground for trash and household waste.
Monroe County Solid Waste in conjunction with Waste Management concluded the area had become a health safety issue.
“We are proactively working to help those who use the area keep it clean,” said Cheryl Sullivan, Monroe County Director of Solid Waste. She visited the site and saw raw food containers and piles of trash shortly after having the area cleaned last week.
The area is used by liveaboard boaters in Boca Chica Basin. The dumpster will be emptied twice a week. Monroe County will absorb the cost of the disposal.
