National Correctional Officers and Employees Week
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies across the nation are taking time this week to recognize the employees working in our detention facilities in observance of National Correctional Officers and Employees Week.
In 1984, President Ronald Reagan signed a proclamation creating this special week. Employees working in detention facilities have a difficult job. They are charged with working in a truly stressful environment and at the same time, ensuring the custody, safety, and well-being of those under their care.
Please join the Sheriff’s Office in thanking all of our Corrections Deputies and employees for their hard work and dedication.
The Sheriff’s Office Bureau of Corrections holds professional accreditation on both a state and national level. The three detention facilities in the Keys hold up to 704 inmates with a daily average population of approximately 500.
The Sheriff’s Office employs approximately 136 certified Corrections Deputies and 31 support staff.
