Mucarsel-Powell Organizes Series of Conference Calls To Update And Hear From Local Labor Unions, Monroe County Officials, And Small-Mid Sized Business Owners On COVID-19 Response Efforts
In Effort To Leverage Resources And Listen To Needs, Mucarsel-Powell Conducts Briefings On Coronavirus Emergency Funding Packages
MIAMI, FL – Today, U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26), as part of larger outreach effort, hosted a series of calls with stakeholders in South Florida to give an update on coronavirus relief efforts, answer questions, and hear from the community about what else is needed from Congress. Mucarsel-Powell took note of concerns from local labor unions, Monroe County officials, and small and medium sized business owners that could possibly be addressed in a fourth stimulus package to be passed by Congress.
“In an unprecedented crisis like this, it is critical that we are all on the same page and that we are listening to each other’s needs. We all have a part to play in confronting and ultimately recovering from this pandemic,” said Mucarsel-Powell. “I heard a wide range of concerns today about medical supplies and protective equipment for hospitals, funding for local municipalities, expanded testing, health insurance and affordable treatment for coronavirus, unemployment insurance, paid family leave, and National Flood Insurance Program mapping. And I will work to address these concerns in a much-needed fourth stimulus package. This pandemic affects every aspect of our lives, and it requires a whole of government response to get us through the crisis.”
Mucarsel-Powell has stated that the first three stimulus packages to address coronavirus are not perfect, and that there is still much that needs to be addressed to fully combat the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic. She is working with her colleagues to pass a fourth stimulus package that will address the remaining concerns she is hearing from constituents, including free treatment for coronavirus, a six-month direct payment for adults making less than $75,000, support for postal workers, help for our farmers and increased election security measures.
