Monroe WIC Offering Assistance to Families in Monroe County
The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County’s WIC (Special Supplemental Food Program for Women Infants and Children) offers food/nutrition/breastfeeding assistance to low income pregnant women or families with infants or children under the age of 5 years who reside in Monroe County. Receiving unemployment benefits do not automatically meet the financial qualifications required for pregnant women, infants and children to receive WIC benefits. However, those in that demographic group who receive Medicaid and/or TANF benefits do meet income requirements for participation in WIC; no other financial data is required. Without TANF and/or Medicaid participation, eligibility for the WIC program is based on gross household income. (WIC is an equal opportunity provider).
