Monroe Library System Supports Donate Life Month
[Key West, FL] (April, 2022) – Monroe County Library Systems and Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency (LAORA), are celebrating National Donate Life Month by inviting county residents to an educational presentation that raises awareness for organ donation and transplantation.
National Donate Life Month celebrates lives saved through organ donation and the legacies of donor heroes. In 2022, more than 100,000 people in the United States are waiting to receive an organ transplant and over 5,200 of those individuals live in Florida.
“Organ donation restores hope to donor families and transplant recipients. We are excited to connect with the Monroe County community to share resources and provide education,” says George Yacoubian, Community Education Specialist, LAORA.
The presentation takes place April 7 at the Key West branch of the Monroe County Library System, located at 700 Fleming Street, Key West, FL 33040. It starts at 11 AM and will include a personal testimony from local heart recipient, Michael Salem. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions, register to be an organ donor and sign up to be a Life Alliance Ambassador.
Life Alliance will be on site to answer questions or speak to media until 3 PM.
