MONROE COUNTY’S BERNSTEIN PARK ON STOCK ISLAND RECEIVES NEW CIRCUIT TRAINING FITNESS COURT

STOCK ISLAND, FL – Monroe County Project Management finished the installation of a new fitness court at Bernstein Park on Stock Island. The fitness court is a 40 by 40 square foot park that has equipment to perform bodyweight circuit resistance workouts for a variety of skill levels and all ages.

The fitness court is equipped with shock-resistant sports flooring and exercise stations that allows up to 28 people to use the court at the same time. The National Fitness Campaign, an organization that supports free healthy living across the country, funded a grant for the park.

“This fitness court takes up a smaller footprint than a fitness trail and is a very good use of limited space,” said Cary Knight, Monroe County Director of Project Management. Project Management is looking into other parks in the County at which a fitness court could also work.

The fitness campaign includes an interactive phone app, www.nationalfitnesscampaign.com, that can help users track progress, fitness goals, and explain workout routines, including its signature seven minute-seven movement workout.
