Monroe County State Attorney’s Office Reports Sentencing Following Jury Trial in Big Pine Key Case

KEY WEST, FL — The Monroe County State Attorney’s Office is pleased to report the sentencing of Mr. Andrew Kent, who was found guilty by a jury trial of possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license. The trial, presided over by Judge Mark Wilson at the Key West Courthouse, addressed multiple charges stemming from a traffic stop that escalated to a drug-related investigation.

Mr. Kent was sentenced to 364 days in county jail, fined $663, and placed under three years of state probation for the possession of cocaine. Additionally, he received a concurrent sentence of 364 days in county jail and 12 months of probation for the combined charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. The court also mandated random drug testing, participation in NA/AA meetings, and a substance abuse evaluation within 60 days.
